In 1992 photographer Stig Stasig went to Riga, Latvia. Here he photographed in the ruins of the Soviet Union, the heavily congested district of the Muscovite Suburbs, bounded by the railway to one side and the Daugava River on the other. A then closed and impoverished area ruled by crime, why neither police nor facilitators came. The meeting with the residents of the Muscovite Forstate became a milestone for Stig Stasig, who reflected his own loneliness and depression in the unfortunate fates he met. Forstäte is a photographic story about a Muscovite Forstate in 1992 with accompanying text prepared by Birna Kleivan in conversation with Stig Stasig. Book design by Stig Stasig with Michael Jensen of K Grafik. a very intense, poetic and classic photobook documentary.
